Mentoring. Building. Fun.
And a bit of good in the world.
Michael’s side project on Tyneside. Once a week, for five or six hours in an evening, a small group sits down and writes code together — mostly university students after commercial experience, and Michael’s own children. We build teams, we mentor, we ship software, and we try to do some good. Paid work is welcome. Everyone keeps their day jobs and studies; we grow as the work asks.

01 · What we build
The evening project. Websites, field tools, logistics, client work when it fits. Live code, real commercial experience, mentoring in the room — and because building is the fun.
02 · Local work
A local cleaning offer. £30 for two hours, money to the cleaner. First area: Howden Ward, North Tyneside.
03 · A bit of good
Free two-hour welcome-home cleans for new parents — born from Michael’s own rough times and the weeks after Lewis, Katie, and Harriet. We are pushing this forward.
04 · Kit
Still-working second-hand computers at low prices, when we have stock. Surplus can help someone who needs a machine.
05 · What a standing start can do
Built completely and 100% by my son Lewis in one night, from a standing start, aged 12. That is the kind of thing this project is for.
06 · A product we are writing
A field-ops web app we are building in those evening sessions — routes, jobs, and the docs beside them. Paired with the API under /v1/logistics.
07 · Sketchbook
Names and domains we are still sketching: Green, Garden, Beer, Academy, and Church. Katie’s squishy shop is live at tyneside.store.
Once a week. An evening. Five or six hours. We build teams, we mentor, we ship software, and we try to do some good. Making it real is how people leave with experience they can stand behind.
Students who want commercial experience, and Michael’s children. Day jobs, courses, and school stay in place.
Real code, real sites, real tools. Mentoring in the room. Fun is part of the work.
We keep the hours honest. If the work asks for more of us, we will follow it.
Michael grew up in Seaham. Day job: CTO & Co-Founder of Cloud Connect Software — a separate company. Before that, Head of Engineering at CloudTrade, then at Advanced.
The passions here are building teams, mentoring, and building new bits of software — and putting a little good into the world, starting with welcome-home cleans for new parents.
